Eiríkur Ómar Sveinsson

Eiríkur Ómar was born in 1955. He qualified as a radio operator from the Icelandic College of Radiocommunications in 1975. He completed his theoretical studies for a private pilot’s licence from Flugskólinn in 1977. He graduated in computer/systems engineering and programming in 1984, and gained his master’s certificate in electronics in 1984. In Eiríkur Ómar started work at the Air Operations Division of the US-manned Iceland Defence Force at Keflavík Airport. Alongside his work on the US base, he undertook various freelance projects in systems, programming and computers. From 1986 he was operations manager of the airport radar system of the Ground Electronics Maintenance Division. From 1997 to 2006 he was deputy manager of the Ground Electronics Maintenance Division. From 2004 to 2008 he was a consultant and project manager at Pristina Airport in Kosovo.
